I'm Going to Houston (sort of)

I'm so happy -- I found out today that the mini quilt I made for the Alzheimer's Art Quilt Initiative is going to be on display/sale at the Houston International Quilt Festival in October. Here's the link to my quilt on their site: Lucy's House

What a great idea to have the quilts at the show! The volunteers who run the AAQI charitable organization are really terrific.

I made the quilt in honor of my mom, Lucy, a wonderful quilter who lost her battle with Alzheimer's last year. It tickles me to think that her spirit will also be represented at the festival - I think she'd like that!

OMG, I'm so proud of you, Sis! I told you that lil quilt was awesome! Mom would be so darn proud of you, she is smiling down right now saying "I taught her how to do that, you know!"

Saw your quilt at the AAQI webpage. Good job. I will make one. My dad is in moderate stage of Alzheimers. Seems like a fun service project to do, try a new project and help a cause,

sorry to hear about your mother. Beautiful tribute! and I am glad you reminded me! I looked for mine (made last fall to honor a neighbor) to find out that it has sold.
