Quilted Cupcake Episode 35 Show Notes: Book Reviews and Giveaway

This week's podcast featured three book reviews.  You can find full details on the Book Review Page.
Dare to Be Square Quilting: A Block-by-Block Guide to Making Patchwork and Quilts
Jil Eaton's Knitting School: The Complete Guide to Becoming a Confident Knitter
Craft Hope: Handmade Crafts for a Cause

To celebrate blog followers, I'm giving away your choice of one of the following books:
Dare to Be Square Quilting: A Block-by-Block Guide to Making Patchwork and Quilts  Jil Eaton's Knitting School: The Complete Guide to Becoming a Confident Knitter

To enter, simply "follow" my blog (see that new feature on the right hand sidebar?)  Click there.  Once you're a follower, just post a comment to this post to tell me that you're following me, and which of the two books you'd like to have. It's that easy!  If you were already following the blog, just post a comment saying I was already following, and the book you'd like to win.  The giveaway will remain open until 9/24/10.

Check out the book review page (menu bar at top of page) if you need help deciding which book you'd like.  Of course, you can also listen to the reviews on the podcast.

Here's the cute little hat I made from Jil Eaton's Knitting School: The Complete Guide to Becoming a Confident Knitter:
If you already listened to the podcast, you know that I've decided to host a Quilted Cupcake Project Night Night Quilt Challenge.  I was inspired by the third book I reviewed, Craft Hope: Handmade Crafts for a Cause  by Jade Sims.  The full review is on the book review tab.

If you're interested in participating, here are the basics - more info. on the podcast. Send me an email, and I'll add your name to the list, and send you the full instructions, reminders, etc.

1.  Sew and quilt a handmade blanket - "crib size" or smaller.
2.  You can use any pattern you like- simple, or complex.
3.  Crib size is 28" x 52", but you don't have to go that big.  Even a smaller quilt will bring comfort.
4.  Send me an email (quiltedcupcake@gmail.com) with your name and email address, and I'll start a list of who's participating.

I've started a flickr group for sharing photos of what we create:  Quilted Cupcake Project Night Night

I am one of your follows now. I would love the dare to be square book. You got me hooked on the free motion quilting and I made the tossed nine patch pattern following your pic. Mine did not turn out as nice as yours but I think I just was sick of all the old 80's fabric I was trying to use up. I also have you on my igoogle home page with all my quilty blogs.

Hi Jean! I think I'm a follower now (I haven't figure all this out either!). I know I've been getting your blog feed on Google Reader for awhile. It's so funny you mentioned Dare To Be Square because I just saw it at the bookstore (I think the other day was only the second time I've been since my son was born four months ago!) and thought it looks so neat! Love the podcast - will be e-mailing you soon for the Night Night project.

I'm now a follower! I've been listening to your podcast and had you in my Google reader and really enjoy what you have to say. All the books you reviewed sounded interesting but I would most love Jill Eaton's book! The Charity book sounded neat as most of my knitting and sewing goes to charity! Thanks for all you do!

Hi, I am one of you listeners and blog readers. I enjoy seeing and hearing what you are up to. I wish thrift shops in my area offered items for the prices that you find things at.
I too have made pillow cases for the 1 million pillow case challenge. I have made 9 so far to donate. Earlier this year a local quilt shop was a sponsor for the pillow case challenge so I was able to use up material that I was no longer in love with. My current plan is to continue to use up fabric stash that I have changed my mind on using in a quilt and just put it to use in a pillow case.
Will you put me on you list for the Project Night Night challenge? I'll put together a quilt or two for a child.
Janet

The hotdog pillowcase method is so quick and slick! I use this method to put my pillowcases together when I make them for the pillowcase challenge and for gifts. I totally love this way of making a pillow case. I learned of this method last year from my local quilt shop.
