A Cupcake Maker...Really?

Now, you know how much I love cupcakes.  They are happiness in a little paper skirt.  However, even I would have a hard time buying something like this Sunbeam Cupcake Maker.  I saw it at Target today and couldn't help but giggle.  Perhaps it would be good in place of an Easy Bake Oven for a kid; otherwise, it just seems kind of silly.  It only makes 6 cupcakes at a time. And, MSRP is $50!  It is kinda cute, but sometimes I wonder how companies make decisions.  Perhaps Sunbeam needs a lesson in "just because you can, doesn't mean you should."

Oh, and if cupcakes aren't your thing, you can also get a donut maker for $40.

Hmmm...so much for living simpler lives.

Am I missing something?  Do I need a pastry to calm down?  What do you think?

I once had a donut maker like this (got it at a thrift shop of course). it baked donut-y dough, whereas real donuts are deep fried. they weren't too bad. I got rid of it (just one more thing to take up space) but occasionally wish it was still around.

when you see stuff like this turning up in the stores it usually means that CHRISTMAS IS COMING and we all need to scramble to BUY BUY BUY. not!

Jean, these remind me of the quesadilla maker my daughter just had to have about 10 years ago. Also purchased at Target. The thing is so big and we keep passing it back and forth. She insists it's mine, I insist I got it for her. Neither one of us wants to store it. And, if and when I ever do make a quesadilla, I never even think of dragging it out from the attic, or wherever the heck it is now!

I saw these at Target also and thought how cute until I saw the price tag!!! They certainly look geared for kids though.

Robyn - that's exactly what I thought. Another thing to clutter up my cabinets. My food processor may be headed to Goodwill, and I do actually pull that out from time to time!

I agree - totally absurd and a complete waste of space, and not very compatible with my kitchen decor (such as it is). If they come up with a machine that will brew me a pot of coffee and bake me a fresh donut or cupcake at the same time, though, I'm in!

If i had unlimited money and miles of counter space i would get these because of how cute they are; however, since i have neither they will have to remain at target.
