Halloween Project from Patrick Lose

It's no secret that I love Halloween.  Pumpkins are a particular favorite.  I found this quilted wall hanging project by Patrick Lose in a Fons & Porter publication called Quilting Celebrations, Winter 2010 edition.

I made a few tiny changes to the original pattern.  I decided to use raw-edge applique with black thread rather than the heavier satin stitch suggested in the pattern.  I also added a button to the eye.  I can't wait to hang it up!

I'd never heard of Patrick Lose before, but I'll definitely be checking out his work now.  There is a new issue of Quilting Celebrations coming out on 9/27 - I can already tell this one will have some great projects, too.  Check out the cover - I love that black cat!

So, please educate me, as I've obviously been living under a rock.  Have you done any Patrick Lose projects?  If so, please leave a comment, with a link if you can, so I can find more!

Years ago (15?) there was a book where you appliqued his designs on sweatshirts then went around them with puffy paint. I did a bunch of them, they were so cute! I wish I had pictures. Have loved his designs ever since

This is so cute! I love Halloween too. And @Ellyn, I remember making those puffy paint sweatshirts for my daughter to wear to daycare. She is almost 20 so you're right about the amount of time. Might be time to throw those puffy paints away!

Really cute wall hanging! I have that magazine and have my eye on that pattern. When I started quilting 20 some years ago Patrick was the only male quilting "celebrity" that I knew of in the quilting world. I have a few of his older books. I have made several of his things but gave them away (no pictures!). I have several of those special edition magazines he's doing with Fons and Porter now. He also has a show on QNN. His designs are fun and whimsical, I like that.

I was just looking at that Fons & Porter issue last night. Couldn't decide which Halloween project to make. Your version of the wallhanging looks great! Thanks for sharing it :)

Your wall hanging is adorable and the button added some to charm to him :) I love whimsical fun quilts and since I've never heard of the designer I'm so glad you shared so I can google more! I need to see if our local stores have put out the Quilting Celebrations magazine....it looks like one I need to add to my collection!

I made a table runner, which is here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/colleen_n/5581163546/in/photostream

I bought the pattern as part of a kit. However, Patrick has a website http://www.flickr.com/photos/colleen_n/5581163546/in/photostream which has some freebies on it, as well as patterns to purchase.

Cute wallhanging! I really like Patrick Lose's style and whimsy. I have an old (10+ years) jacket and vest pattern book of his, but I gave away both of the items I made from it long ago. I came across his Quilting Celebrations magazine last year and immediately recognized the style. His fabrics are great colors too!
