Handmade Banner Studio Decoration

Banner, Pennant, Flag, Bunting.  Whatever you call them, I love them.   I have made several different versions in fabric, with yo yos, and even a crochet version.  Until this past weekend, I'd never created a banner from paper.

After looking through my vintage patterns to create the collage for my new sewing table, I decided I wanted to add more retro fun to my studio.  So, the vintage sewing bunting was born.

I used a bunch of different embellishments, including: lace, fabric, yo yos, buttons, scrapbook paper, vintage pattern sleeves and directions, pages from an old Singer manual, doilies and jute.

It was so much fun, I decided to create a few for my Etsy shop.  Maybe there are some quilters, sewers or crafters who'd also like to add a touch of retro fun to their own studio space. You can see them in detail here and here.

I sewed around each flag to make them extra sturdy.  True confession time - I bought my first $89 sewing machine to use for scrapbooking :)

For all my scrapbooking buddies - I told you I wasn't totally abandoning paper crafting.  I even bought 2 mini stacks of Basic Grey paper to use for these.
