Does this make me a bag lady?

I made four different bags yesterday!  Such fun.  My favorite is my own version of a travel/map bag.  I wanted something I could wear across my chest for my upcoming trip to New York.  I like shopping hands-free, and I've vowed to never again wear a fanny pack  - let's just say there's enough fanny there without adding to its bulk, KWIM?

Isn't this better than a fanny pack?  It's about 6 x 8 inches - just big enough to carry a wallet, small camera and keys inside, and a map on the back.  Could probably carry more if needed.

The main fabric is a Free Spirit print that I bought in Lancaster on one of my first trips. The little "patch" on the front is covering one of those happy design "accidents" - I wanted a velcro closure, and I wanted it to be secure.  After I did all the sewing, it made the front look bad.  So, I used some of the lining fabric to make a little patch to cover it.   Cute, huh?

Here's the inside, with more of that lovely dragonfly fabric:

Finally, I made a super-long strap and a pocket on the back:

I'm betting this baby will get used quite a lot - it would be great for yard sales, or even a quilt show.

I'll post pics of the other bags later this week.

Those are quite cute - I've not made but one bag - a purse - so I shall have to try other bags.

very cute! It's similar to a bag I designed specifically for my first trip to NYC... I named it the NYC hipster bag & wrote up the pattern! the one I made myself is wearing out I use it so much. Love yours

I always pack a bag like this to carry while on vacation. I have one I bought years ago in Mexico, but I think it's time for me to update to something new. I like your addition of an outside pocket for a map.
