We tried a new kind of chicken last night, and I just had to share it with you. We call it "Stand Up and Take a Bow" chicken. This was the best, moistest chicken I've ever made. And, it was super easy. You put the chicken on a wire rack ($3 at WM), and cook it on the grill with 1/2 can of liquid inside the little rack. We used a Diet Coke can half full of chicken broth. The recipe called for 1/2 can of beer, but we didn't have any. I've heard Sprite works, too.
Before it goes on the grill, you coat it inside and out with olive oil, rub with seasonings (I just used salt and pepper), stand it up on the can, and put it on the grill. You don't open the grill cover at all for at least an hour. When I checked mine after the hour, it was all done! Also, you use indirect heat - which I'd never done before. That means turn on the right burner, and put the chicken on the left (unheated) burner.
We demolished it - hubby said it looked like it had been attacked by a school of piranhas. Yummy!
Has anyone else tried this? Any recipes or hints? Please share in the comments.
