New Quilt with Retro Embroidery

This is one of those ideas that was running around in my head for a while.  I wanted to incorporate embroidered blocks into a quilt, but didn't want to be constrained by the pre-made blocks that are available.  I looked for some already made vintage blocks, but didn't find any that matched the vision in my head.

I realized that I could iron my favorite Aunt Martha designs onto Kona white, embroider them, and then add log cabin-style borders.  So, that's what I did!  Instead of doing them in single color or redwork style, I chose a few colors and used them throughout.  I'm loving how it turned out.

I used 30's repro fabrics to do courthouse steps-inspired frames and trimmed each to 12.5 inch blocks.  I used a vintage sheet on the back (later realized I had other fabric that would have been perfect, but it was already quilted!)
If Dusty had his way, this is the only photo I'd get:

It's going to start out as a wall quilt above my vintage crib, and will probably eventually find its way into the crib.
