On a recent trip to thrift shops, antique markets and estate sales, I found the perfect mini china cupboard. I had been looking for one for some time. Not to hold china, of course (I have boys - they don't mix well with china). It's really a tale of how one piece of furniture gave birth to 2 more.
My search started when we got a new TV and hubby upcycled an old dresser into this sleek new TV stand. He was so excited to have the new TV that he had the thrift store dresser in the yard, sanding it before I could even take "before" pictures. Just trust me when I say he did a great job turning a $40 dresser into a great entertainment center. He took out the top 2 drawers to fit the cable box and DVD player, and added slick new nickel hardware.
My old entertainment center (shown below before a Freecycle member picked it up) was also the place where I displayed all my holiday decorations, etc. It was great, real oak, but it didn't fit the new TV.
So, I needed a new home for my decorating. I went on the hunt, and found this beauty in Hampden, MD at The Ideal, a converted theater that's now an antique shop. It's perfect! I was all ready to sand and paint whatever I found, but this matches my lime green living room. I may yet change it over, but it's great for now.

I just love when I'm able to find exactly what I'm looking for at a thrift or antique shop. It's what keeps me going back for more!
