Pillows are a great way to add a punch of color to any room. I'm hosting a mini challenge to make at least one new pillow a week for the next month. Pillows are so easy, and a great way to try out a new fabric or a mini version of a quilt motif.
Anyone up for the challenge? Can you make 4 pillows in a month? For fun, let's call it the Pillow-Palooza. Everything's better when it's a palooza, am I right? You can post any pillows you complete on the Quilted Cupcake challenge board on Flickr. At the end of the month, I'll post all of the pillows here on the blog.
Please share Pillow-palooza via Pinterest, Facebook, etc. It will be fun to see what everyone comes up with!
The folks at Joann and HGTV HOME fabrics provided me with the supplies for my first entry. They just launched a brand new line of home decor fabrics and trims, available both in-store and online. I fell in love with this one, called Checkered Past Berry. It's a nice, heavyweight fabric with great texture.
Honestly, this envelope-style pillow took literally 15 minutes to make. You have 15 minutes, right? So worth it, when the end result is so bright and happy. It made me wonder why I don't have a ton of these in my house, and thus, Pillow-Palooza was born. Here's a link to a great simple pillow cover tutorial at Tatertots & Jello.
As a bonus to kick start your own pillow projects, Joann is offering a 10% off HGTV HOME fabric and trim coupon - see below. In addition, all of the new fabrics will be available at 50% off at Joann stores and at Joann.com from April 7 - May 4, so you can stock up. And, yes, you can use the coupon on top of the sale!
Coupon use tip: Copy the above image, paste it onto a blank sheet in Word, etc. and then print.
