Remember this Fisher Price xylophone toy? I had one as a child, and bought them for my kids, too.
Found this one at a thrift store for $1.50 - it's in great shape. Only issue is that it looks like a puppy has chewed on the hammer stick. It still works great, though.
Of course, I left it on the kitchen island and without fail, everyone in the family played a tune when they saw it. Nobody's pulled it around the house by the front string, though. They're all too tall (short stuff me could probably do it, no problem!)
What were some of your favorite childhood toys? I'd love to hear from others!
The Fisher Price puppy or hound dog (I forget which one we had) that wiggled and bobbed its head when you pulled it.
ReplyDeleteI had a pull along doggy that I used in a tap dance performance of " How Much is that Doggie in the Window?" I teach writing to seventh graders, and one topic I use at Christmastime is to describe a favorite childhood toy.
ReplyDeleteI used to LOVE that xylophone!! I also liked the ball popper thingy - I thought that's what vacuuming would be like when I was grown up. Boy, was I wrong... LOL!
ReplyDeleteI had a baby doll that I thought looked just like a real baby! I would "burp" it on my shoulder and talk to it while riding along in the backseat of the car, thinking everyone who passed by thought I had a real live baby in my arms. (I was 5.) My mother made a whole stack of real baby clothes for my doll. It is my all time favorite toy.
ReplyDeleteMy sons had the xylophone, too!
Great find! I used to have that one, and the later model for the children as well. I found a FP School House at the local thrift shop last week and had to snatch it up :) I love the old FP stuff, but really, really want to find the Noah's Ark that came out in 1977 and is next to impossible to find :( My Mom gave ours away and I have never found another one- not even online.
