Prepare to drool....
Here's Red Velvet Cupcakery in DC - if you live in Tucson, there's one there, too.

This is the devil's food cupcake - with edible gold leaf on top!

Here's a pic of the Philadelphia Highway Patrol Drill Team - amazing display!

Here are some photos from the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portait Gallery.

I had to laugh about your comments about making curtains. I grew up helping my mother hand sew sides and hems for custom drapes. She converted the basement into a home (sweat) shop. I used to get paid 50 cents to sew the sides and another 50 cents a panel for each hem length.

I HATED IT .... BIG TIME... but it gave me money when I could not go out and work because my school schedule was too help... I could sew before school and late at night..... so I did it.

To this day I do not have drapes or curtains on my windows if they can be avoided.... living in the country means I do not have to cause my neighbors are racoons and cows.

I enjoyed your commentary... keep up the great pod casts.

Love, love the rug. I'm hoping to finish mine this weekend!
The typewriter brings back memories of you and I sitting at the dining room table the night before the school paper deadline typing up articles. Remember our first shared byline? "I Want My MTV!"

Once again I enjoyed your podcast and the photos on your blog. For your Singer picture- a long time ago someone told me to aim the camera at an angle to the glass when photographing an object behind glass and then you don't get the flash reflecting back in your picture.
