Zippers with Attitude

Here's a quick little project that I made from a book called the Feisty Stitcher: Sewing Projects with Attitude.  It's made of ribbon stitched to a base.  And, yes, that's a zipper in there!

Check out the profile.... it's a triangle!

The book rates it as "embarrassingly easy" , and although it took me 2 tries to get it right, I'd have to agree that it looks alot harder to do than it was.  I liked that I could use some favorite ribbon.  I chose to attach my ribbons to a base as I sewed them together.  I like having it lined.

I'm going to use it as my "pool purse" for the summer.  Perfect size to hold a chapstick, change for snacks, and my keys.  Plus, its unique shape should make it easy to find in my bag.

Funny thing -- the zipper is one from a big bag of them I bought at the thrift store about a year ago (think I talked about them on a podcast)- I knew they'd come in handy once I figured out how to do zippers.

The book's a good one, with very unique projects.  Another fav of mine is a journal cover made with rubber from a truck's innertube.  Check it out here: Feisty Stitcher.
