Raw edge applique is the easiest of all the techniques. I love the wonkiness. I made this "Home" wall quilt for my sister's birthday.
It was inspired by a photo in a magazine, but I don't remember which (sorry). The technique couldn't be easier - put some Fusible interfacing on fabric, cut out shapes, iron them on and then outline in black thread.
I learned alot about this technique from a book by Poppy Treffy called Free & Easy Stitch Style. It's very liberating!
p.s. Thanks for all the well wishes while I was sick. The flu really kicked my butt this year. And I even had a flu shot.

This is super cute! So colorful! I have a goal this year to buy a little quilt panel stand for hanging small quilts on. I saw it in the Fons and Porter magazine. Then I want to make small holiday themed quilts to hang throughout the year. I love your quilt!
