During my recent trip, I discovered that
Janome makes a
Free Motion Quilting Foot and Bobbin Case. I didn't buy it locally because I wasn't sure they would work with my
6300P. Upon returning home, found that they do, so I ordered both from
Allbrands.com.
I'll let you know after I take them for a test drive. The foot certainly looks different- the screw on top lets you adjust the tension.
Has anyone tried either of these? If so, please let me know, either via email or in the comments below.

Hi Jean- I also have a 6600, and I bought the "blue dot" bobbin case and the convertible FMQ foot - it has the same tension screw on the foot, and the bottom of the foot can be switched out between an echo quilting foot, a "u" shaped metal foot, and the closed circle one you have a picture of. I prefer the u-shaped one for visibility, but I love the screw adjustment because I can set it higher when I have a quilt with a lot of bumpy seam intersections.
I have not used one of these, mine is just a regular darning/free quilt foot, but I just finished reading the book "Dancing with Thread: Your Guide to Free-Motion Quilting" and in the book the author talks about these. Not a great help from me, but hope you enjoy your new foot, let us know!
I have the closed toe foot on my 6600. I like it, but also want an open toed one. I did find that the hopping foot was better on the edges because it pushes the fabric out and eliminates extra puffiness.
I have the blue dot bobbin case and the free motion quilting foot in your picture, and LOVE them. What a difference! Although now that I've read Pam's comment, I may have to look into the one with interchangeable feet...
I also have the quilting foot and you will notice a difference in your quilting. I love mine.

I bought both of these and I am having a lot of trouble with mine. I have the 6500. The stitch is extremely small and it is far from free motion. I have the screw as far down as possible to try to get the foot up but it is not at all what I want. What am I doing wrong? Help

A couple things to try. Do you have the dial on the machine to adjust pressure (mine goes from 0-3). I often forget to turn it down to 0 before beginning. Also try both dropping and NOT dropping the feed dogs. Different settings work well for different projects. Other than that, not sure what else to suggest. Have you done free motion before? It is definitely something that takes a lot of practice to get it the way you like it.
